How shops are scored

How shops are scored

Every shop on Sillage Index is rated on five things that actually matter when you buy fragrance online. Each is scored from 1 to 5.

Authenticity — Is the product real? This carries the most weight. A fake at any price is worthless.

Condition — Does it arrive intact and well-packed?

Response — When something goes wrong, does the shop help? Returns, refunds, replies.

Price — Value against the wider market.

Shipping — Speed and reliability of delivery.

The overall score

The overall score

The weighted score isn’t a simple average. Each criterion is weighted by how much it protects you as a buyer:

Authenticity 35% · Response 20% · Condition 20% · Shipping 15% · Price 10%

Price is weighted lowest on purpose. A cheap shop that sends fakes or vanishes when you email them is not a good shop, no matter the price.

What the tiers mean

What the tiers mean

Trusted – Fully Verified (4.3+) — Strong across the board. Buy with confidence.

Generally Reliable (3.5–4.2) — Solid, with minor caveats worth reading.

Mixed – Proceed with Caution (2.5–3.4) — Real risks. Read the notes before ordering.

Not Recommended (below 2.5) — Avoid.

A note on honesty

A single weak area won’t sink a shop, but it caps how high it can climb. A great price never buys back a bad authenticity score. The math is public here so you can judge it for yourself.
